CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTER APPLICATIONS, level 2 (CCA)

These regulations should be read in conjunction with the Institute's Academic Regulations, clause 2 General Programme Regulations

  • 1. Admission and Entry
    • 1.1 Subject to the requirements set out in clauses 1.2 and 1.3 of these regulations students must demonstrate that they
      (a) have a reasonable chance of success in the programme;
      (b) wish to complete the entire programme (rather than a subset of the available modules)
      (c) have not already received a similar qualification at this level or higher
    • 1.2 Candidates whose first language is neither English nor Maori must have gained an International English Language Test Score of 5.5
    • 1.3 Applicants currently at school will not be permitted entry into this programme.
  • 2. Enrolment
    • 2.1 On completion of enrolment candidates will receive tutorial support and on-line access for each course they enrol in. Each module requires 20 - 40 hours of study.
    • 2.2 Students can enrol on more than one module at a time. However, the time period allowed for each module remains at 15 weeks and in order to successfully complete each module the student needs to pass the assessment within the 15 week period.
  • 3. Informal and Formal Transfer of Credit
    • 3.1 Informal transfer of credit may be considered on a case by case basis for this programme.
    • 3.2 Formal transfer of credit may be considered on a case by case basis for this programme.
  • 4. Programme Requirements
    • 4.1 Each candidate's programme of study shall comprise elective modules totalling a minimum of 40 credits from Group A and B and C of section 8 of these regulations.
    • 4.2 Candidates who wish to undertake the International Computer Drivers Licence (ICDL)) examination must complete the modules listed in Group B as part of their programme.
    • 4.3 Candidates who wish to undertake the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) examination must complete the modules listed in Group C as part of their programme.
    • 4.4 Candidates who wish to complete NZQA Unit Standards assessment must complete the modules listed in Group A as part of their programme and meet the NZQA assessment requirements.
  • 5. Programme Requirements
    • 5.1 Candidates will be permitted to enrol in a module only once unless granted approval by the Programme Manager.
    • 5.2 The duration of the module enrolment is to be for a period not exceeding 15 weeks.
  • 6. Programme Requirements
    • 6.1 A candidate may take up to three years to complete this programme.
  • 7. Assessment
    • 7.1 Assessment in this programme is competency based, therefore, aegrotat consideration is not available.
  • 8. Award of the Qualification
    • 8.1 Candidates who successfully complete the requirements in clause 4.1 of these regulations will be awarded the Certificate in Computer Applications.
    • 8.2 Candidates who successfully complete the requirements in clause 4.2 may also be eligible to sit the International Computer Drivers Licence (ICDL) examination.
    • 8.3 Candidates who successfully complete the requirements in clause 4.3 may also be eligible to sit the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) examination.
    • 8.4 Candidates who successfully complete the requirements in clause 4.4 will be awarded the NZQA Unit Standard.

  • 10. Withdrawal Process
    • 10.1 If you decide to withdraw from the WintecActive programme you can do so at any time by sending an email to CCA2@wintec.ac.nz giving your permission to be withdrawn from the CCA2 programme. Wintec will then process the withdrawal accordingly.
